I’ve played a few, but haven’t run into that one in the playlist yet. Looking at a video, though, Ghost says this:
Void Light can only be created by Guardians.
Then later, there’s this exchange:
“Watched a Wizard rip the Light out of my best friend and funnel it into some kind of crystal.”
“They’re harvesting Guardians.”
I don’t think the Hive simply capture Void Light from “all things”- Ghost singles Guardians out as being the producers of Void Light. Those crystals weren’t formed from gathered Light; rather, that Light was pulled from Taeko-3’s fireteam. There’s precedent, here, of course:
Among a sea of cocoons, and surrounded by thousands more freshly spawned hordes, the Heart held Omar’s broken body in a vice of bone and pain. She was peeling the Light from his body. How? I can’t imagine, and I have tried. Tendrils of luminance tore away like flesh.
