I just finished the Shadowkeep campaign and…wow. Now, I haven’t done the Garden of Salvation Raid, so maybe I’m missing something, but…I’ve got one big question. Who is “they”? Everyone keeps saying “they” and referring to this new threat as “they” but did anyone ever specific who “they” exactly are?
SPOILERS As far as a I know, when the characters say “they” they (haha no pun intended) are referring to the darkness and the Pyramids.

Okay, that’s what I assumed. So, “they” doesn’t really refer to much concrete. Are the Pyramids sort of…sentient?

I assume they are like the traveler. I don’t really know, and I don’t think we know anything more/new about the Pyramids yet.
